A coastal trail over jungle headlands passing Playa Colomitos, Playa Caballo, and Playa Madagascar before arriving at lively Las Ánimas with restaurants and shade palapas. Return by water taxi for the complete experience.
Cerro del Mono – Higuera Blanca
"Monkey Mountain" – a rugged ascent through dry forest and rocky switchbacks to 360° summit views of the Pacific, Sayulita, Punta Mita, Litibu, and the Sierra Madre peaks. Eagles and iguanas along the way.
El Cerro de la Cruz
Steep staircase climb from the Romantic Zone to a hilltop cross with 360° views of the city, bay, and Pacific. Locals use the stairs as a daily workout. Best at sunrise or sunset – the cathedral and bay views are unforgettable.
Mirador Conchas Chinas
Winding cobblestone streets through lush vegetation lead to a scenic viewpoint overlooking Banderas Bay. Popular with locals for sunset watching. Shaded and photogenic throughout the ascent.
Nogalito River Trail
Gentle jungle hike following the river under constant canopy shade, ending at the Nogalito waterfall – a perfect swimming hole. You'll cross small streams throughout. One of the coolest hikes near PV even on the hottest days.
Palo María Waterfall Trail
Only 15 minutes from downtown. The trail follows the river under constant jungle shade to a series of beautiful swimming holes. Rainy season (May–Oct) makes the falls powerful and dramatic. Multiple pools to discover the further you go.
